So, Fang decided to go with Onyx! There's a lot tied into this: agency, needing to feel as if she's working with someone who will work with her, and feeling really connected to Maleficent through the Vanille tie (this is the biggest reason). Maleficent understands her need to protect and feeling a little lost in that arena. The thread it happened in is here.
l'Cie strength
I realized that if Fang was going to go for a patron, it would be to get something like this, since Fang (canonically) is meant to reflect aspects of Lightning and Snow while distinctly being herself. In the second game, Snow takes on the l'Cie brand again to be stronger. However, Fang is not as ... well, she's not like Snow, so she knew to be careful about it. What this gives her is increased strength and resilience at all times (AKA she won't get back tanking skills without having the HP to tank). This is a decent level now, so she can actually fight without being afraid of not knowing where she stands, but I'll make it a little stronger as she opens up the levels of her paradigms (within reasons of the power cap, of course).
